About
I have been shooting 3d stereoscopic photos for over 30 years using my trusty TDC Stereo Vivid 35mm film camera. I used slide film and hand mounted each shot in a Realist style mount.
I recently replaced my film camera with a pair of Canon SD1200 IS digital cameras. These are electronically connected so that one shutter button can control both cameras. With adequate lighting, causing a higher shutter speed, even high action shots can turn out perfectly.
Editing and combining the two separate photos is done using GIMP with the Ubuntu Intrepid operating system. I created a plugin for GIMP which greatly simplifies the combining process. The photos are then printed as a 6 inch by 4 inch print. Viewing is accomplished with inexpensive hand held viewers.
